ADOPT

Here’s how our adoption process currently works, and honestly, I would love for it to remain this way because it worked so wonderfully this year. It allows us to provide specialized neonatal care while also helping shelters, rescues, and humane societies throughout our area lighten their load.
I take in neonatal kittens three weeks old and younger from humane societies and rescues throughout Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania. They receive specialized, intensive care here at the nursery until they are old enough to graduate.
Once they graduate, they return to the original shelter or rescue they came from to continue through that organization’s adoption program. I’ll make a graduation post on OUR FACEBOOK PAGE featuring their photos, a little bio, and a link to the shelter or rescue’s website and/or adoption application.
Because the kittens are adopted through their respective organizations, I do not have any control over the adoption process once they leave the nursery. All adoption related questions—including availability, application status, requirements, and approval decisions—must be directed to the shelter or rescue listed on that kitten’s post.
I simply do not have time to respond to every message or comment asking whether a certain kitten is still available or how to adopt them, especially when all of that information is included in their post. Messages and comments containing adoption questions will often go unanswered, so please read the entire post and contact the listed organization directly.
I’ll update the post to say “adopted” once their adoption team lets me know they have found a home. If the post has not been updated, you can generally assume they may still be accepting applications; however, that may not always be the case. Please follow up directly with the listed organization to confirm their current status.
There may be instances next year when kittens are available for adoption directly through me. If that is ever the case, their post will clearly say so and include instructions explaining how to apply.
This system worked incredibly well this year, and I truly believe it is the best way for the nursery to support as many local shelters, rescues, and humane societies as possible.
Lastly, please remember that my phone number is text-only and should be used only for emergencies regarding a kitten three weeks old or younger. Voicemails and texts inquiring about the availability of a kitten for adoption will remain unanswered.
