ADOPT

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE NURSERY IS CURRENTLY OPERATED FROM MY HOME. THERE ARE NO PUBLIC HOURS. MEET AND GREETS ARE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY FOR APPROVED APPLICANTS. 

  • Applicant must be at least 21 years of age and live within 4 hours driving distance of Youngstown, OH.
     

  • No children under the age of 5 in the household. 
     

  • PLEASE DO NOT APPLY ON A WHIM. Out of consideration for the time and energy of our small adoptions team, we ask that you apply only when certain that you are ready and able to adopt a specific (by name) kitten.
     

  • Applications indicating something vague (e.g. "an orange kitten," "a male kitten," "any kitten") will not be considered.
     

  • IBKC has a strict no declawing policy that is legally binding.
     

  • Kittens must be strictly indoor pets-- supervised outdoor enrichment is permitted and encouraged.

The fee to adopt a kitten is currently $100.

 

Kittens come with an ADOPTION PACKAGE containing:
 

  • Health records

  • New Kitten Manual

  • Information on pet insurance

  • Any favorite toys

They will also have: 
 

  • Been spayed/neutered

  • Full Wellness Check 

  • FVRCP/FELV (4-Way w/Leukemia)​

  • FIV/FeLV Testing

  • Rabies 

  • Dewormed and flea treated

ADOPTION PROCESS

  1. YOU SUBMIT APPLICATION:
    After you submit your application, if you do not receive an e-mail within 72 hours stating otherwise, your application is considered accepted. This means everything on your application (aside from personal and vet references) has checked out thus far.
     

  2. IBKC WILL BEGIN CONTACTING REFERENCES:
    PLEASE refrain from asking about the status of your adoption application. Please note that sometimes we receive a high volume of inquiries about a kitten. This is why it's important to include as much information that will help your application stand out.

    If your application is accepted and you haven't heard back from us within 2 weeks to set up an in person interview, this is usually the case.

    In this event, we encourage you to continue your search at other local animal shelters or wait for our next available batch of littles.
     

  3. PHONE OR IN PERSON INTERVIEW:
    We will reach out using your preferred method of communication as indicated on the adoption application to set up a phone or in person meeting and greet/interview. If you do not respond within 24 hours we will move on to the next applicant.

APPLY

If the adoption application is "currently unavailable" it means that any kittens we have at the nursery are too young for pre-adoption. 

 

When kittens become available for adoption, the announcement will be made Facebook and applications will be opened.
